|
| How
long I am in darkness? |
 |
At
least two hours. It takes some time
to accomodate (even a bit) to a life in darkness. |
| |
|
| Tell
me more about the dinner in the dark! |
 |
You
order your menu in the well lit foyer before you enter
the dark guestroom. Your
assigned
blind
or visually
handicapped waiter or waitress will guide you to your seat
in the dark. He/she is always responsive to your needs
and will assist you as necessary. He or she will guide
you
anytime back to the bright areas of our premises. |
| |
|
| How
dark is it? |
 |
100
percent black as a crow. You will not see your hand
before your eyes and not the tiniest trace of light.
But your personal waiter or waitress will be around anytime.
You
will learn
quickly that it is not as complicated to accomodate to
the dark as you might think. |
| |
|
| Will
I be blotted all over after dinner? |
 |
No,
probably not! We prepare the meals in such a way that they
are easily eatable in the dark. If needed you can ask your
personal waiter or waitress for assistance. You will be
surprised how soon you are able to act in this unfamiliar
situation. |
| |
|
| How
do your waiters and waitresses manage to work in
darkness? |
 |
Blind
and visually impaired people know how to use their
remaining senses to find orientation in a
room. For instance they evaluate the special properties
of the sounds they hear and use for instance noises or
the character
of
the
ground.
|
| |
|
| Are
the restrooms also in the dark? |
 |
No,
only the dining room is dark, all other rooms are properly
lit. |
| |
|
| Is
it true that smoking is strictly prohibited? |
 |
That's
true! Because of the total darkness your pupils will
be wide open and your photoreceptors will be very
sensitized. In this situation the glow of a cigarette
is enough to illuminate the entire room. But you can
smoke in the foyer and you can ask your waiter or waitress
to guide you for a smoking break.

| |
|
| Can
we bring our children along? |
 |
Yes,
children from the age of eight on are welcome. To eat
with their fingers is an affair of honour! |
| |
|
| Wo
can I reach you? |
 |
We
are located in the very middle of Berlin, it's only three
walking minutes from the S-Bahn station "Hackescher
Markt",
and two minutes from U-Bahn station "Weinmeisterstraße".
Please refer for more details to How
to reach us. |
| |
|
| Can
I pay with my credit card? |
 |
We
accept all common credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, American
Express) as well as your ec-card.
|
| |
|
| Right
next to the dark guestroom whose appearence
is unknown you have a wonderful bar (with
light).
What for? |
 |
We
use the bar for events which take place partly in the dark,
partly in light. For instance German vocalist Joana
Zimmer presented her last album at the bar. Before she
had dinner in the dark with her guests and
did some of her songs. Please refer to Private
parties for more
information.
